sad but true..heard about this several months ago.
Very true (that’s us at the source!). Models like TOMS make us feel great about improving someone’s life, but the work of connecting markets and supporting local entrepreneurs is, while less glamourous and much harder, ultimately much more important and vital to creating strong economies (not to toot our own horn too much… well, all right, I’ll toot it). TOMS is a band-aid solution, not an ultimate answer to the problem that they see and not an efficient use of aid money.
Won’t be posting here for some time, thank you all for following this blog and for all your contributions, comments and submissions - they’ve all been wonderful. I hope that you’ve all been able to see various sides of Africa that you may have previously never been exposed to.
